Fix MacBook Speaker — Sound-Wave Recovery in Your Browser

Condensation, splashes, and minor spills can muffle the MacBook's hi-fi drivers. Use the 440Hz mid-range mode to clear them — no disassembly required.

For minor exposure only

If you spilled a full glass of water on your MacBook, power it down immediately and take it to a repair shop — sound-wave ejection cannot fix liquid contact with the logic board.

Steps for muffled speakers after condensation or light moisture

  1. Open SpeakerRescue tool in Safari or Chrome on the MacBook
  2. Select MacBook from the device picker
  3. Set system volume to maximum
  4. Tilt the laptop forward so the keyboard-deck speaker grilles face down
  5. Run the 440Hz mode for 60 seconds
  6. Follow with 528Hz for 30 seconds to clear dust

If the speaker still crackles after 24 hours of drying and three sessions, book an appointment with an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
