Apple Watch Water Eject — And How to Get It on Any Device

Apple Watch Water Lock is the original sound-wave water ejection feature. Here's how it works — and how to use the same physics on your iPhone, AirPods, or Android phone.

How Water Lock works

When you turn the Digital Crown after a swim, the Apple Watch plays a low-frequency tone tuned to the resonant frequency of its speaker driver. The diaphragm moves with maximum amplitude, generating pressure waves strong enough to expel water trapped in the mesh. This is patented as US 10,536,778.

Use the same physics on any device

  1. Open SpeakerRescue tool in any browser
  2. Select your device — iPhone, Android, AirPods, MacBook, tablet, Bluetooth speaker
  3. Turn volume to maximum and tap Start Rescue
