About SpeakerRescue

SpeakerRescue was created with a simple mission: to give everyone free access to the same sound wave technology that Apple uses in Apple Watch — for any device, in any browser, without an app.

Every year, millions of people drop their phones in water, get caught in rain, or notice their speakers gradually getting quieter from dust buildup. Most of them either pay for unnecessary repairs, waste days on ineffective methods like rice, or simply accept reduced sound quality. SpeakerRescue exists to change that.

The science

Every speaker diaphragm has a natural resonant frequency — the rate at which it vibrates with maximum amplitude per cycle. For smartphone speakers that's typically 150–200Hz. Playing a tone at this frequency at high volume creates strong outward pressure waves that overcome the surface tension of water trapped in the mesh, physically pushing droplets out through the grille.

This is the same principle Apple uses in Apple Watch Water Lock (US Patent 10,536,778). We brought it to every device, in any browser, via the Web Audio API.

The 3-frequency system

• 165 Hz — Deep water ejection. Maximum diaphragm displacement.
• 440 Hz — Balanced mid-range. All-purpose cleaning.
• 528 Hz — High-frequency dust blast for fine debris.
